Banff Wedding Videographer

Jecel and Elliott’s camping elopement made my Banff wedding videographer heart swoon, and we got to take photos of their day too! Their adventure of a lifetime had everything from canoeing on a glacier lake to towering waterfalls and cruising down dirt roads.

Wildfires Abound

A few days before Elliott and Jecel’s backpacking wedding trip, a wildfire closed the road access to our initial hiking location! For any Banff wedding videographer that backpacks, you know how hard it can be to get reservations and bookings for backcountry campsites. Luckily there is tons of beautiful public crown land around Golden, British Columbia so we were able to figure out a Plan B for their elopement that was equally stunning!

The smoke was thick in Golden, BC when we met Jecel, Elliott, and their two troopers (🐶+👶) in their BTS Customs campervan. Looking at Kicking Horse resort’s webcams, we knew with a bit of elevation we could get above the smoke, and sure enough after driving down the bumpy forest road to the trailhead the mountain views began to open up!

Hiking with a Banff Wedding Videographer

We hiked into a beautiful glacier lake surrounded by rocky peaks and set up camp while wildflowers swayed and marmots whistled in the background. With the whole place to ourselves, it felt like a little slice of paradise for a Banff wedding videographer!

Elopement Time

Jecel and Elliott got ready to exchange wedding vows as golden hour approached. As Elliott suited up by the old canoe and Jecel put on her makeup at the picnic table, it really couldn’t get much more outdoorsy of an adventure wedding than this!

The setting sun dipped below the mountains quite literally as they finished exchanging vows and sealed it with a kiss, while their little one blew bubbles to celebrate! The mountains peaks were awash in a diffused pink glow and the waters of the glacier-fed lake drew perfectly still, as if Mother Nature wanted to make the scene extra special for us Banff wedding videographers!

Despite the change of plans, wildfire smoke, and persistent bugs buzzing around, everything felt perfectly right as dusk fell and we all settled in for the night.

Making It Official

The next morning Elliott and Jecel shared a first dance and a quick canoe around the lake with us while the little ones slept snugly in the tent nearby. After sunrise we packed up camp and headed out to meet their officiant and make things official at a towering waterfall in Yoho National Park!

Our hearts were so full as we said goodbye to Jecel and Elliott’s little family as they drove away down the mountains to continue on their elopement road trip.
