Moraine Lake wedding photography | Lake Louise elopement inspiration | Film and Forest Banff wedding photographers
These Moraine Lake wedding photos will have you eloping in Banff ASAP! Turquoise blue waters and a ceremony at Lake Louise are the highlights of Caitlin and PJ’s Moraine Lake elopement photography.
Microweddings: The Best of Both Worlds
Caitlin and PJ’s Moraine Lake wedding photos prove that just because you elope doesn’t mean you can’t have your loved ones there too! There is no set definition of an elopement anymore, and inviting your family can tie in the best of both worlds; an incredibly intimate destination wedding with a side of adventure.
The Morning of Their Moraine Lake Wedding
PJ and Caitlin started their elopement day getting ready at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. The Fairmont is located right on the shores of Lake Louise, making it the perfect basecamp for a lakeside ceremony and Moraine Lake wedding photos after. Plus, the national park is public land so you can easily hold a small leave no trace ceremony nearby without having to rent out an outdoor space from the hotel itself.

As Moraine Lake wedding photographers we know how important it is to lock a hairstyle in place with unpredictable mountain weather, and the team at Something Borrowed nail it every time!
Lake Louise Wedding Ceremony
The bride and groom wanted to keep part of their Moraine Lake wedding to themselves alongside sharing it with family. They had an intimate wedding ceremony at Lake Louise with their family with the Victoria Glacier as a backdrop. Although Lake Louise can seem busy for a wedding ceremony at first glance, with a little walking you can quickly find some space away from a background full of crowds. And of course a little creative editing for your Lake Louise and Moraine Lake wedding photos helps too 😉
For their Lake Louise wedding ceremony decorations, Carissa of Wild Magnolia Floral created two stunning floral arrangements to create an altar at the end of the ‘aisle’. These arrangements tied in beautifully with Caitlin’s bouquet that Carissa also made.

Moraine Lake Wedding Photos
After their Lake Louise elopement ceremony, we headed to Moraine Lake where a looming storm cloud moved above. It quickly blew over, though, as they shared their vows to each other privately beneath the towering ten peaks that surround the lake. Caitlin’s gorgeous Hayley Paige wedding dress flowed in the wind and made their Moraine Lake wedding photos even more stunning!
Their First Dance
Just because you don’t have a traditional wedding doesn’t mean you can’t incorporate your favourite parts of a wedding day! One of our favourite ways to end a Moraine Lake elopement is to have a first dance. Hidden away from view, we found this little break in the forest that was perfect for Caitlin and PJ’s first dance as a newly married couple. As they danced the wind rustled through the trees and The Lumineers played along softly.
Celebrating Their Moraine Lake Wedding
After exploring Banff with their families, Caitlin and PJ hosted a party with all their friends back home in the USA to celebrate! Elopements no longer need to be just the two of you anymore, and wedding days don’t have to be a cookie cutter affair!
Caitlin and PJ tied the knot with their families, exchanged private vows and a first dance with each other, and celebrated with friends later. An adventure of a lifetime completely their own with stunning Moraine Lake wedding photos to remember it forever.

You did amazing job by storytelling this elopement with so various frames, angles, light and moods.
Great photography!
Totally does! We’ve been to Moraine over a hundred times (no exaggeration) and every time we shoot there it’s a little bit different.
Experience is crucial to understand how to navigate large crowds, and I have complete trust in your guidance! Your creative editing is also seamless 🙂 Your perspectives and compositions are breathtaking to see, and the shots of this couple opening the champagne bottle are AMAZING! I know who to call for Moraine Lake wedding photos!
Thanks Meg! I often think destination photographers forgot how crowded Moraine Lake is and how hard it is to work around people without much walking room, so we sincerely appreciate your kind words on this!
WOW! What a magical day. Such stunning images. Really sums-up why elopement weddings are so special…
Cheers!
