We call our engagement photography and couples photography adventure sessions. Why? Because these sessions are meant to capture just that; your adventure as a couple together! Your engagement photos should reflect who you are, and we believe in capturing candid moments that are authentic and fun.
location, location, location
The location of your adventure session or engagement photos are completely up to you. Long hikes in the mountains of Canmore, coastal vibes near Tofino, roadside lakes in Banff, grassy desert hills of Kamloops, urban city exploring in Calgary… we’re game for anything.
As full-time adventurers, wild places are our specialty. We are full of ideas, and can help you choose and suggest places that fit you most. Just let us know what your dream destination looks like, and we’ll find it.
it’s not a photo shoot,
it’s an adventure
Forget those stiff, awkwardly-posed engagement photos from the 80s that give you a cringe. Film & Forest adventure sessions celebrate hanging out with your best friend for the rest of your life!
Don’t be worried about getting camera-shy; we’re trained in the art of silliness and know all the right words and prompts to guide you through the session.
At the end of the day, you’ll walk away with big smiles on your faces (literally!) and authentic, laid-back photos that fit your personalities.
wear what you love
Your adventure session outfits can be as casual or as formal as you like! Wear what makes you most confident, whether that’s plaid shirts and jeans or summer dresses and cowboy boots.
If you’d like your engagement photos to look more dramatic like an elopement, we recommend flowy dresses that dance in the wind and clean collared shirts.
Other things to keep in mind:
Depending on location, your outfit might get a little dirty. This is an adventure session, after all 🙂
Avoid high heels; after 2 hours of walking in comfy shoes you’ll still be having type 1 fun!
Avoid wearing big logos and text; this will help the attention stay on you and not your shirt.
tips for success
Be yourself!
The best pictures are the ones of you being you. Jokes, laughter, jumping in mud puddles, stealing kisses between poses, unexpected wave splashes that get you both drenched (it’s happened!). Our favourite images are the spontaneous ones, so don’t feel like you can’t break the mold! Digital cameras were made for the bloopers 🙂

We always capture both romantic and candid angles, but if you have a specific idea in mind for your adventure session let us know and we’ll be sure to capture it. We’re always up for the unexpected!
Keep your favourite memories in mind
To help get you out of your shell and spark authentic emotion, we may ask you to share some of your favourite memories of each other.
Think about some of your favourite memories and keep them in mind for the session. The memories can be sweet, loving, funny, embarrassing, and everything in between! But shh, don’t spoil what you’d like to share with each other before the session, it’s a surprise!
