I have a healthy obsession for mountain weddings, so when Todd Kwiczak of Tkshotz Photography asked if I wanted to be his second shooter for an Invermere wedding in the Rocky Mountains, my answer was “YES YES YES YES YES!”

There was a cold snap in the Rocky Mountains, but we knew we had to take advantage of Eagle Ranch Resort’s amazing views of the Invermere Valley. Todd and I started the day early scoping out the perfect spots for couples of the bride and groom. By spending some extra time in the area, we were able to find a number of diverse places that offered different backdrops. At Film & Forest, we include location scouting in all of our wedding photography and elopement photographer packages because it ensures our clients get the best spots possible for their photos.

The bridal party got ready at Copper Point Resort, where the suites were flooded with lots of natural light (a photographer’s favourite!). The ceremony was held in the main building of Eagle Ranch Resort, full of natural rustic wood beams and floor-to-ceiling windows. This venue offers a contemporary rustic feel with mountain views to boot, everything a destination elopement wedding needs in one easy place. Even though the temperature was below freezing, the party trooped it out for photos after the ceremony and we took them around the golf course, catching greenery, forest, and mountains all in one place. Deanna’s bouquet by Inspire Floral Boutique fit the mountain landscape perfectly, full of burgundy tones and greenery for a truly rustic fall wedding feel.

For the reception, the bride and groom decorated the venue with candles made of birchwood and red rose petals. Their cake and cupcakes were made by Fun Cakes by Diane and frosted with soft silver and white hues to go with the wooden cake stand. Music and sound was provided by Wild Bill’s DJ Services to cap the night off. I’ve seen a lot of weddings, but this group sure did throw down when it came time to party.

James and Deanna were such a pleasure to capture their special day, and their friends and family made me laugh more than once. This is what love and friendship looks like. Congrats guys!
