A crisp early fall morning was perfect as Emerald Lake Wedding Photographers for this adventure session. Rebecca and Nick were visiting Canada from New Zealand, and we were so happy to show them Emerald Lake and the Natural Bridge in BC!
Emerald Lake Wedding Photographers at Sunrise
When we met up with Rebecca and Nick, it was a chilly morning before the sun rose. Rebecca is a super-talented New Zealand wedding photographer herself, and it was such an honour to capture her and Nick while they were in the Canadian Rockies! These two were up for any location, and from our time shooting landscape photography at sunrise we knew Emerald Lake would be perfect. Low crowds, privacy, and ample room to move around. We couldn’t wait to share the beauty of Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park, and these two were game for anything! We had such a blast hanging out and laughing with them!
As the air began to warm, a misty fog rolled off Emerald Lake. We’ve been to this lake for landscape photography before (it’s one of our favourites), but as Emerald Lake wedding photographers we were so excited to see this mist in the background during this adventure session!

While we were capturing the adventure session photography, Nick spotted something moving in the water from afar. As it got closer and closer through the misty waters, we saw it was a bear swimming across the lake! We can honestly say that has never happened to Emerald Lake wedding photographers during a session before aha! We quickly backed away from the shoreline to give this big guy the space he needed coming ashore.
After a quick break to warm up and let the bear pass with safe space, we walked to the other side of Emerald Lake to take advantage of its gorgeous fall meadows. One of the best parts about this lake is the room to move around and explore new perspectives of the Canadian Rockies. Since this spot is less touristy than places like Moraine Lake and Lake Louise, there is a ton of room to move around for Emerald Lake wedding photographers without getting overcrowded.
Morning Rays at the Natural Bridge
After leaving Emerald Lake, we went to the Natural Bridge nearby. This is a unique topographic feature in the Canadian Rockies, perfect for photo variety as Emerald Lake wedding photographers. As the morning sun shone through the waterfall mist, Rebecca and Nick peaked over the edge of the natural bridge. As the day began to warm up, we all headed back to the cars for a much-needed nap after our morning adventure.

That’s what we love about Yoho National Park compared to Banff! So much less crowded and you get a ton more variety in landscape around for adventure sessions.
