Thisbe and Grey’s morning elopement was a dream for intimate wedding photographers in Banff National Park! A sunrise first look, a ceremony at Two Jack Lake, followed by a sweet family brunch with loved ones.
A Banff Hiking Adventure for Intimate Wedding Photographers
When Thisbe and Grey first reached out to us, they were looking for intimate wedding photographers that captured both the beauty of Banff National Park and authentic candid moments.
They didn’t have any specific Banff intimate wedding ceremony venues or spots in mind, so we helped them choose the perfect locations that fit their love for adventue and the outdoors.
They chose a secluded alpine lake for their first look, photos at Moraine Lake, and an intimate wedding photographers ceremony spot at Two Jack Lake.
We met at the trailhead a few hours after midnight, and hiked with wedding clothes in tote for Thisbe and Grey’s sunrise first look. There wasn’t a soul around.
Just before the Thisbe was about to meet Grey for the first look, a cascading rumble from the peaks above crashed down the mountainside. The sound broke the silence and humbled us in awareness of our wild surroundings.

As intimate wedding photographers, it is such a priveledge to to take couples to these wild places and help them experience that grounding feeling of the outdoors for themselves. The sound of crashing rock moments before Thisbe and Grey’s first look is one we won’t soon forget. Plus, waking up early and hiking before sunrise means you get the whole place to yourselves for your intimate wedding or elopement!
After wedding photography at the alpine lake, the rain began to fall. The bride and groom totally embraced it!
Adventure and hiking elopements mean intimate wedding photographers need to be up for anything Mother Nature throws. We always carry a cute umbrella for couples to take cover and use throughout the day.
We then headed to Two Jack Lake in Banff National Park for the intimate wedding ceremony. The ceremony was officiated by John Stutz with their closest friends and families present. One of our favourite parts about being intimate wedding photographers is how close we get to couples. Often by the end of the day, we’re tearing up right alongside the couple’s loved ones.
The morning was finished with an intimate wedding reception brunch at Sage Bistro in Canmore. Having hobbies in common and good chemistry with the couple is so important to us as intimate wedding photographers, and we are so happy to have met Thisbe and Grey. Congrats you two!
