Sarah and Darryl’s Mount Engadine Lodge wedding has everything from hiking to family time! The mix of tradition and adventure will inspire you for your own microwedding.

Adventure and Tradition at a Mount Engadine Lodge Wedding

If eloping means you escape to secretly get married, and a wedding is a traditional affair with a giant guest list… does that mean you have to choose between one or the other? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Darryl and Sarah wanted to experience adventure on their wedding day, but still wanted to celebrate with their family and incorporate traditional elements of a wedding day. So they did just that by having a Mount Engadine Lodge wedding in Kananaskis Country!

Sunrise Hiking First Look

While their families slept at Mount Engadine lodge, we met Sarah and Darryl by headlamp to hike in the wee hours of the morning before the sun rose. A few hundred metres of elevation later, we got closer to the top of the hike and the rising daylight revealed the rocky mountains around us. The skies were thick with smoke (an unfortunate recurrence in North America), but it gave the landscape a beautiful tranquility to it. In the distance, we could see how far we hiked and where they would tie the knot later that day at their Mount Engadine Lodge wedding. Sarah looked like a true adventure bride as she put on her wedding dress from Novelle Bridal!

After rocking their first look together and taking wedding photos, we hiked down for a morning nap then rejoined their families for their Mount Engadine Lodge wedding. Engadine Lodge is one of our absolute favourite wedding venues near Canmore for microweddings, because everyone can celebrate and stay all in one place, while having dozens of gorgeous trailheads nearby for your own adventures throughout the day!

Engadine Lodge Wedding Ceremony

That afternoon, Sarah and Darryl tied the knot in a tear-jerking ceremony on the deck of Engadine Lodge overlooking wildflower meadows and alpine peaks in Kananaskis Country. In their Mount Engadine Lodge wedding photos, you can even see the mountain they hiked up for their first look!

Afterwards, Darryl and Sarah mingled with loved ones amongst appies and charcuterie before wrapping up the day with first dances and a big dinner to laugh and cheer the evening away. It was truly the perfect mix of adventure and tradition on a nontraditional wedding day.
