Hiking engagement photos | Garibaldi region, Whistler, British Columbia | Film & Forest Whistler wedding photographers
Coming from the Canadian Rockies we’re used to mountain views, but the Garibaldi mountains will stun any Whistler wedding photographer away with its pristine beauty! Hiking for Anuja and Pramod’s Whistler engagement photos was amazing. Keep scrolling to see for yourself!
Always Have a Backup Plan
The Garibaldi region around Whistler is known for rugged mountains and lush meadows, and even in late September this was no exception for Anuja and Pramod’s hiking engagement photos!
We had originally planned a hike in the Coquihalla region (northeast of Vancouver) for their mountain engagement photos, but a freak snowstorm blasted the entire area just a couple days before! As every good Whistler wedding photographer knows though, there’s always a backup plan. Whistler was not even hit by the storm, so to the Garibaldi mountains it was!
Whistler Wedding Photographer Hiking
These two are from Seattle and have hiked extensively around Washington and the Canadian Cascades. We were excited to show them a new hiking trail they hadn’t explored yet for their Whistler engagement photos!
The night sky was quiet and clear as we met up with them and hit the trail in the wee hours before sunrise. It was chilly in the crisp autumn air, but the seemingly endless switchbacks and tree root-hopping kept us warm. Within a couple hours we reached our destination.

Whistler Engagement Photos in the Meadows
The meadows were lush with autumn grass and the small creek had frozen overnight as sunrise revealed our surroundings. Across the valley, we could see Black Tusk and Mt. Garibaldi glow pink with the morning light. This was certainly a Whistler wedding photographer’s delight!
There are longer hikes around Mt. Garibaldi like Panorama Ridge and to Garibaldi Lake itself that would be perfect for an overnight backpacking elopement! Yes, you can plan a backpacking trip for your wedding plans and it is seriously epic! Take a look at this backpacking elopement in Banff National Park we captured for more inspiration.
A Morning Well Spent
After an incredible sunrise exploring the meadows and capturing their Whistler engagement photos, we all packed up and hiked out. Early morning wake-up calls are always worth it when you get to capture an adventurous couple like this in the great outdoors. This was truly a morning well spent for any Whistler wedding photographer.

OMG you got me dreaming with these images! Canada will always be my favorite country for hiking locations! I didn’t get a chance to see Whistler but I definitely have to come back!! Absolutely amazing how you were able to capture them within the landscape!!
Thanks! We may be biased but we think Canada has the best hikes aha 😉
Beautiful location knowledge and images ! I need to get to whistler !!
Yes! It’s amazing there! We recommend avoiding summer and going in shoulder seasons like spring and fall when the area is less busy.
These photos are so beautiful! What a stunning location.
Thank you! Whistler is hard to beat.
You captured this engagement with such beauty and truly focused on the details well with the landscape! British Columbia is gorgeous!
Thank you!
These images are so stunning! This will definitely inspire couples to want to elope in the Garibaldi mountains!!
We hope so! Whistler is so underrated for places to elope in Canada. People always go to Banff but there’s some cool regions in BC too.
oh wowww this has me wanting to book a trip to Whistler ASAP. These are so beautiful and serene and I love how you caught the little details like him tying her shoes.
Aw thank you! They were so cute helping each other along the hike too 🙂
These are so beautiful!! So true about having a backup plan…you never know! But when your ‘backyard’ is full of this beauty, a backup plan looks just as (if not more!) beautiful!
Very true! Vancouver and the lower mainland area is full of great photo locations!
What a lovely couple, love her red dress and the place is gorgeous!
Thanks!
