This winter wedding in Canmore proves just because summer ends doesn’t mean wedding season has to! These two cuddled up to keep warm in the Canadian Rockies for their Canmore wedding at Stewart Creek Golf Club.
Planning Your Winter Wedding in Canmore
Sometimes couples plan their wedding years in advance, but Cortlinh and Matt knew that just wasn’t their style. When they got engaged, they knew they wanted to keep things simple and chose a winter wedding in Canmore only a few months after Matt proposed. They knew Stewart Creek Golf and Country Club would be the perfect Canmore wedding venue for their winter plans. Plus, as wedding photographers in Canmore we know how gorgeous it can be in the mountains this time of year! As long as you’re prepared for winter cold 😉
Consider a camping wedding like this one instead!
A Warm Ceremony for a Winter Wedding in Canmore
The bride and groom decided to have an intimate wedding where everyone was a familiar face. They got married surrounded by their closest loved ones in a sweet mountain ceremony officiated by Patrick Smiley. Cortlinh and Matt exchanged their own personal vows. As Canmore photographers we always recommend couples exchange vows because it adds your own meaningful touch to a ceremony and the vows truly are the promise that will carry through in marriage. Their love radiated and filled everyone with warmth for this cozy winter wedding in Canmore.
Rustic and Cozy Wedding Reception
After the ceremony, we headed to Banff National Park to capture their wedding photos. Canmore and Banff both have great photo locations for weddings, but we knew Lake Minnewanka would have the best sunsets in December for this winter wedding in Canmore. The bride and groom chose not to have a bridal party, so we were able to make the most of our time and stop by Two Jack Lake for wedding photos in Banff National Park as well!
It was chilly in the winter, but these two rocked outdoor photos in the mountains! We wrapped wedding photos up in Banff National Park and headed back to Stewart Creek Golf Club for a cozy reception dinner by the fire. There were tears of joy, hearty laughs, and hugs all around to celebrate Cortlinh and Matt’s winter wedding in Canmore. This cozy wedding proved you don’t need summer weather to celebrate love.

Ahhh love these! Canmore was my fave town when I visited Canada last year! So epic.
It has such a different vibe than Banff; more local and low-key!
Such an adorable couple on a beautiful day! Good idea to get a warm start. Looks absolutely stunning. Those mountains are unreal!
Thank you! It certainly was cold aha 😉

Okay, these images are insanely beautiful. I love how they had a cozy, intimate ceremony then got epic photos by themselves ontop of the mountain! All of the details are lovely <3 You really captured the beauty of the landscape and the best of their personalities with the close ups too. Love your work 🙂
Aw thank you Kaci! It’s so nice to have both the benefits of an intimate wedding (friends and family there) and an elopement (epic mountain views) all in one day.
They look so at ease in the wintery Canmore landscape! What a gorgeous elopement and beautifully photographed!
They’re actually from Sherwood Park near Edmonton so these two were up for braving that Canmore cold like no other!
OMG!!! Canmore just took my breath away and so did your photos!! STUNNING work!!
Thank you so much!
Those. Rugged. Mountains. Behind the couple!! You could just see the joy radiating off their faces. Amazing work!
