Camping Wedding Photography Vibes
These two made their camping wedding day truly their own. They rented a group camping site for their closest friends and family, who came all the way from BC and Alberta to share in celebration. When we arrived, we were truly amazed at how the bride and groom made a simply campsite into the ultimate Pinterest DIY camping wedding spot! Banners and twinkly edison bulb lights strung between communal picnic tables, polaroid picture guest book, and even a little teepee fort made out of wood and woven with flowers. Talk about serious Pinterest camping wedding ideas and inspiration for us as photographers!
First Look + Hiking Wedding Photos
To get away from the family craziness, we took the bride and groom on a first look hike in the Canadian Rockies of Alberta. Once at the top, they changed into their wedding clothes for a secluded backcountry first look. After the first look, we had fun capturing hiking elopement photos. We then headed back down to start the camping wedding photography!

The Lakeside Ceremony
After we got back from the hike, it was time for friends and family to gather along the lakeshore for a camping wedding ceremony. The friend of the bride is an especially talented florist Hen & Chicks based in Calgary, and made the most stunning floral arrangement for the camping wedding ceremony arch. Hen and Chicks also created the bride’s beautiful bouquet.
The weather was bright and sunny, but in the distance dark thunderstorm clouds brewed. Every so often throughout the camping wedding ceremony, you could hear the loud CLAP of thunder. We took that as a sign from the gods on their blessing 🙂 After the ceremony and family photos wrapped up, to our surprise a park ranger was there informing us a mama grizzly bear and two cubs had mozied their way over to crash the wedding party! In the distance, there she was, a proud mama bear and her cubs foraging through the tall grass. Good timing, because it was time to skidaddle for the camping wedding reception anyway!
A Little Rain Ain’t Bringing This Camping Wedding Down!
As we made our way back to the group campsite for the reception, the downpour and thunderstorm started. But no worries for this camping wedding party! A little covered area gave some protection from the rain, and the groom totally rocked his rain poncho! The rain soon passed, and everyone was mingling and having a great time. For dinner catering, the couple brought in Stuff’d YYC, a Calgary food truck, for burgers with their guests! Now this is what we call one of the best ideas for camping wedding inspiration. Plus, it made for fun photography too!
After a truly Canadian day of hiking, grizzly bears, and thunderstorms, this Canmore camping wedding photography was a complete blast! Congrats you two!
