As Calgary wedding photographers, we notoriously check the weather forecast before sessions.

It had been raining all weekend, but the clouds broke into the most epic sunset for this Okotoks engagement photography session.

The Perfect Prairie Sunset for Calgary Wedding Photographers

Josh and Mel came down from Edmonton for our engagement adventure session together in Okotoks. Mel’s parents own property out here, and we all knew right away the perfect spot for taking in the sunset views! Just south of Calgary, this area is filled with winding country roads to explore.

We love adventure sessions in the desert and prairies!

We started the session roaming the backroads of Okotoks. Nothing like some super casual cuddling in the middle of a country road, right? 😉 As the sun began to set, we made our way to the coolest little boulder-hopping field. This spot is perfect for Calgary wedding photographers and couples looking to watch the sunset. It also happens to be a rad bouldering spot close to Calgary for those looking to try their skills outside a climbing gym too. Caveat: Liam and I both miserably fail at outdoor bouldering, we’re much better at sport climbing aha! But it’s always fun to try something new 🙂

We danced around in the golden fields, then caught the last bit of sunlight dip down below the rocky mountains on the boulders. This engagement photography session has us so excited as Calgary wedding photographers to be capturing Josh and Mel’s big day this winter in the mountains! Two seasons, and one rad couple in love.
