The bride Talia runs her own business as a horse equestrian, and both her and Jeremy work on a ranch. It was only fitting, then, that they incorporated a western touch into their wedding day! As Fernie wedding photographers we think Island Lake Lodge is perfect for its rustic mountain feel, and it worked perfectly for western decor!

Sunny Skies While Getting Ready

They spent the morning with their bridal party getting ready at the lodge. Talia put the final touches on her wedding vows and the Lizard range came out from behind the rain clouds. Fernie wedding photographers know that mountain weather can be unpredictable, but the rainy skies completely cleared for Talia and Jeremy’s wedding day!

Family Canoe Traditions

Beneath the warm autumn sun Talia and Jeremy got married at Island Lake Lodge’s I Dew Point. Their friends and family celebrated and Talia and Jeremy’s personal vows to one another were sweet and sincere.

Island Lake Lodge is surrounded by old growth forests, and we couldn’t resist taking advantage of the giant trees as Fernie wedding photographers! Talia’s dress shone beautifully in the golden sun. Before they joined their guests at the reception, Talia and Jeremy took their family canoe around the lake. It’s tradition in Talia’s family to use this canoe made by her relative on the wedding day.

They rejoined their guests at reception, where heartfelt speeches and laugh-out-loud moments were shared by all. Talia’s dad couldn’t resist giving Jeremy some last-minute survival tips! We snuck out with the bride and groom for some sunset portraits down at the lake. This is a great way to get some alone time away from the busy mingling of reception, and the soft blue hour light makes the best images for Fernie wedding photographers!

Talia and Jeremy danced the night away with their loved ones at Island Lake Lodge. After a busy day everyone was eager to kick up their heels (literally) on the dance floor and get the party started!
