It was wildfire smoke and thunderstorms in Golden for us BC elopement photographers! Dustin and Kaylynn truly embraced the crazy mountain weather for their small elopement in the foothills of Golden, BC.

Dustin and Kaylynn both love the outdoors and hiking around the Canadian Rockies. When it came time to tie the knot, they decided to keep the day low-key and focus on what’s most important: their families and their love for one another. For their BC elopement, they decided to rent a little AirBnB cabin for a weekend off the grid with their loved ones near Golden. As BC elopement photographers, we love couples that choose to go away from traditional wedding venues. Golden makes a perfect wedding venue in the heart of the rocky mountains.
The wildfire smoke had fully socked in the valley, but these two didn’t let the weather get them down! Thunderstorms moved in as the ceremony finished, so we took full advantage of some singing and dancing in the rain! BC Elopement photographers always expect weather extremes in the mountains, and our trusty clear umbrella makes the perfect touch in photography for when the rainclouds roll in.

Down by the River for This Golden Elopement
On our way to the BC elopement, we had scouted the coolest river nearby for Dustin and Kaylynn’s elopement photography. They were totally game, and hopped across boulders along the rivershore full wedding attire and all! This spot had total PNW vibes with the smoke and rain, which was only fitting as the bride and groom used to live in Victoria on Vancouver Island!
After an afternoon celebrating and feeling so welcomed by their families, we wished these two all the best on their next adventure that would start a few days after their elopement: a puppy! Capturing a love story like this in a place as beautiful as Golden makes our jobs as BC elopement photographers all the more worth it.
