Hiking Engagement Photos in Kananaskis Country

These two live in Vancouver and will be getting married in Tofino, but they wanted to capture the Canadian Rockies for their hiking engagement photos. They had just completed the Berg Lake Trail in Mt. Robson Provincial Park, which is one of our favourite backpacking trips in Canada and one of our bucket list elopement locations. To break up the drive home to Vancouver, they took the opportunity to get their hiking engagement photos in Kananaskis Country with us!

Couples Headlamp Photos

Like most sunrise adventure sessions it was an early start, but that didn’t deter Nora and Mat from strapping on their headlamps with us for hiking engagement photos.

The clouds began to break overhead as we climbed up the ridge. We arrived early, and captured some couples headlamp photos on as blue hour revealed Spray Lakes reservoir below.

Alpenglow at Sunrise

Sunrise illuminated the surrounding peaks of Kananaskis Country in a soft pink alpenglow. It was windy at the top (like every hike in the Canadian Rockies) but these two trooped it out! We are so glad they did, because their adventure session is one of our favourites we have ever taken in Canmore!

Larch Season in Kananaskis Country

September is larch season in the Canadian Rockies, and the golden trees were in full swing for Nora and Mat’s Canmore hiking engagement photos in Kananaskis Country. You can only find this unique tree in the rocky mountains and parts of Russia because it thrives in alpine environments. Every fall, the larch’s needles turn bright orange and yellow before shedding for the winter. We hiked down the ridge after sunrise and were sure to capture the phenomenon!

After a fun morning spent hiking and soaking in mountain views we said goodbye to Nora and Mat as they headed back to Vancouver. The next time we’ll see them is this summer on Vancouver Island for their Tofino wedding! We’ll be going from hiking photos in the Canadian Rockies to a beach wedding in Tofino and we can’t wait!
